Greeting

Atsuhiro Yamagishi (Secretariat of UQC 2007)

Today, there are great expectations for quantum cryptography technologies to be incorporated into a new tool to improve the quality of entire information security system. Quantum cryptography had traditionally been less an issue for industrial applications, however, than academic interest. Now the sector is quickly shifting from an embryonic field of scholarly interest to practical field of industry. The trend poses issues that need be promptly dealt with, with the cooperation and information sharing among industries, research institutions, and the government sectors.

The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for major and top researchers, vendors, people involved in standardization activities, and government officials to update each other on the current status and future perspective of quantum cryptography technologies, share issues, and facilitate consensus-building efforts for sound development of the quantum cryptography technologies as an efficient tool. We look forward to active participation from researchers, engineers, vendors and users.

In closing, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all parties concerned for their generous efforts in making this international conference possible.
